ENGINEERING WELL-BEING IN THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT (HEALTHY BUILDINGS, HEALTHY PEOPLE)

Wellness can be sustainability’s Achilles heel or its springboard into the development of new types of spaces and solutions.  We must re-align our expectations for comfort, sustainability and efficiency with this new metric for success.  To integrate well-being into sustainable design we must alter policy, technology, form and function, cultural comfort norms and our project delivery methodology. This presentation will explore how the intersection of health, equity and environmental sustainability creates disruption opportunities leading to new design and construction processes and possibly a new project team framework that is focused on the overall well-being of our users.
