As Senior Vice President, David applies over 20 years of design experience to his projects. He is responsible for the overall technical design, as well as for the coordination of the work of the engineers, designers, and CADD operators on his team. He also consults with local regulatory agencies for design conformance to regulatory standards and for conducting system analysis and comparisons with regard to economical and functional considerations.
Patrick is a Project Director with over twenty years of architectural design experience working closely with owner/developer and contractor teams to perform the full spectrum of project delivery services including site analysis, project schematic planning, pre-construction and construction documentation and project administration during construction and post-occupancy phases.
Howard County General Hospital is a 225 bed acute care hospital and a member of Johns Hopkins Medicine. In his role, Ryan is responsible for Business Development, Diagnostic Imaging, Ancillary Services, Clinical Labs, Food and Nutrition, Pharmacy, Facilities Engineering, Facilities Project Management, Security, Environmental Services and Respiratory Care. He has been employed with Johns Hopkins Medicine for 19 years in various leadership roles.
Rakhee is a medical epidemiologist with nearly 20 years of clinical and public health experience. She has served as a U.S. CDC Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer (EISO) at the Maryland State Health Department and thereafter worked int he CDC Influenza Division for many years. Most recently, she led the Influenza and Respiratory Virus Team at the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for the Americas (PAHO). In these roles, she investigated many infectious disease outbreaks in various settings, developed surveillance strategies, managed large grants, and engaged with stakeholders from Ministries of Health and Agriculture throughout the world. She also worked to support the development of pandemic preparedness plans and influenza vaccine policies.
Teresa joined VMDO in 2019 after completing her Master of Architecture at Virginia Tech. Prior, she spent much of the last decade in Washington, DC, working on the construction of affordable housing with a focus on high performance buildings. Specifically she has worked on single family homes and multifamily renovation projects in DC that have been certified with the Passive House Institute of the US (PHIUS). In 2005, she graduated from Boston College and received her B.A.S. in Art/
Architectural History.
As a Vice President with one of twelve operating groups working out of the DC office, Garth has managed and overseen construction projects of all sizes across a multitude of industries. However, specializing predominantly in the Science & Technology market, this work afforded him the opportunity to build United Therapeutics’ new corporate headquarters in Silver Spring, and one of th4e country’s largest site Net Zero Energy commercial buildings in the US.
David is the founding member of the Zero Place Project. David’s passion for net-zero-energy construction stems from his interest in finding ways to radically lower carbon emissions across all aspects of human activity (to combat global climate change).
David is also the Chief Operating Officer of Elemental Cognition, and artificial intelligence technology start-up with offices in New York City and Wilton, CT. David helped launch the company in 2015.
A founding principal of Davis, Carter, Scott, Doug has a wealth of knowledge and expertise in all aspects of architectural planning and design. With over 50 years experience, he has developed and designed projects for Fortune 500 corporations, institutional, governmental and retail clients, hospitals and health care facilities throughout Europe and across the United States.
A founding member and owner of SCG Development and its affiliated company Stratford Capital Group, Steve is primarily responsible for the management and oversight of the Company’s property development activities. Committed to developing high quality affordable and workforce housing to support healthy, diverse communities, the Company has participated in the capitalization and development of 243 properties comprising 27,400 apartment units across 27 states. SCG Development has active development projects in 12 states and maintains offices in Tysons, Virginia and Peabody, Massachusetts.
Cassandra is currently responsible for energy management activities, which include budgeting expense and reimbursements for the entire portfolio (300 apartment communities), billing, and renewable energy procurement. She is also committed to helping AvalonBay achieve its Science-Based Targets through various sustainability initiatives. Prior to joining AvalonBay, Cassandra served in regulatory and program management roles at WGL Energy.
In his role within the Energy, Sustainability & Infrastructure practice with Guidehouse, Elijah helps corporate and governmental clients identify, develop, and implement solutions for achieving a low carbon, resource efficient future. He supports corporations with quantifying the greenhouse gas emissions of their operations and value chain, setting science-based targets on these emissions, educating and securing buy-in within the organization, and implementing strategies for achieving emissions reductions. A passionate nature lover, he is also keenly interested in nature-based climate solutions.
As Director of Sustainability, Kathy guides project teams through the green building process, including preliminary building analyses and energy studies, design coordination, construction phase management, credit tracking and certification documentation submission. Kathy’s expertise and experience on a multitude of LEED, Green Globes, NGBS, and EarthCraft projects allow her to optimize green buildings and allow clients to realize the triple bottom line. Kathy leads DCS Design’s Green Team, manages sustainability initiatives, and hosts the annual DC Sustainability Summit.
